Vanya is a new resident at the Men’s Crisis Centre. Having been homeless, even the broken bathrooms available at the MCC are a luxury for him.

20 years ago Vanya led a balanced life. He had a family, a home and a job as a security guard. His passion was music and playing in a band.
Tragedy struck when his wife died and his 14-year-old son was killed in a bar fight. With nothing to live for Vanya turned to alcohol to numb the pain. His health suffered and his desire to play music was extinguished. In a short time, the bills mounted, eviction followed and he became homeless.
Vanya heard about the MCC from a friend who’d been helped by them many years ago. He reached out and Genya immediately came to his aid.
“His eyes were so tired with loneliness – in them we could see the cry of his soul for help”.
After one week at the centre Vanya is joining in and participating as much as his health will allow. Years of drinking left him with painful kidney stones, but...

... after one month at the centre, he has begun playing music again. It's a joy to see him smiling and a blessing for others to hear him play!
“I am so grateful to be here, communicating with others and being cared for. Thank you”
For all the residents, having clean, working facilities will help them on their road to recovery.
