Love Russia is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper who is motivated by their faith and the charity’s mission to make a difference in the lives of those living in poverty in one of the world’s most overlooked and neglected countries, Russia. This role offers the opportunity to support a mission-driven organisation and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Role Overview:
The Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of a small international development charity. This includes maintaining accurate financial records, processing donations, and ensuring compliance with financial and regulatory requirements.
This position offers opportunities for development and further learning in financial processes, which could potentially lead to a transition into a new position, such as Finance Officer, in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management
Maintain accurate financial records, including donations, expenditures, and transactions, using the charity’s financial (Xero) and customer relation management (Infoodle) software.
Support donation processing and record-keeping in collaboration with the Office and Accounts Assistant.
Send thank-you emails for online donations in line with the charity’s donor communications policy.
Manage monetary and non-monetary donations (e.g., clothing and items for beneficiaries in Russia).
2. System Administration
Maintain proficiency in financial software (Xero), ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Maintain proficiency in customer relation software (Infoodle) as needed and stay updated on software developments.
3. Financial Reporting and Compliance
Prepare financial reports and assist in end-of-year accounts for auditing purposes.
Support CEO with Gift Aid submissions and maintain accurate records for HMRC compliance.
Collaborate with the CEO and Deputy Director to ensure financial compliance and reporting accuracy.
4. Budget Support
Monitor monthly spending, ensuring budget targets are met and overspending is avoided.
5. Research Support
Occasionally provide statistical data and research for fundraising campaigns and media purposes.
Person Specification:
Motivated by a Christian faith and a heart for service.
Strong bookkeeping skills with proficiency in a financial software.
Proven ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive data.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communicator, capable of working collaboratively in a small team environment.
Committed to the charity’s mission and values and willing to pitch in where necessary.

Location:
This is a hybrid role based in Nottingham, with a minimum of 50% of working hours required in the office (NG11 location). For the right candidate, there could be some flexibility on the % hours agreed to be worked from the office.
Hours and Salary:
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, semi-flexible between Monday and Friday. Core hours (09:30 – 12:30) must be worked on working days, unless agreed otherwise.
Salary: £23,809.50 to £27,000 pro rata, depending on experience.
Holiday Entitlement: The Employee shall be entitled to 25 days' paid holiday (pro-rata) in each holiday year (rising to 28 days through an additional day awarded each January for three years) together with the usual public holidays in England and Wales that fall on the employees usual working days.
